COVID-19 (Coronavirus) is having a significant impact on the lives of all Australians. One2One Removals is committed to doing everything reasonably practicable to continue to provide a high standard of delivery services to our customers, while ensuring the health and wellbeing of all our customers and staff.

What is COVID-19

Coronavirus is a novel virus which can cause illnesses from the common cold to more severe diseases such pneumonia and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS-CoV) and Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS). Symptoms may include a fever, cough, sore throat, tiredness, and shortness of breath. This new Corona virus originated in Hubei Province, China.

How Corona virus is spread

Corona virus is most likely to spread from person-to-person through:

  • direct close contact with a person while they are infectious
  • close contact with a person with a confirmed infection who coughs or sneezes, or
  • touching objects or surfaces (such as door handles or tables) contaminated from a cough or sneeze from a person with a confirmed infection, and then touching your mouth or face.

COVID 19 can be spread by people who are infected and even show no symptoms.

Our responsibilities

One2One Removals is responsible for:

  • complying with the Biosecurity Act 2015 (Cth) and all state legislation regulating biosecurity and public health emergencies;
  • developing and implementing strategies that assist in eliminating or controlling Corona virus including workplace assessments, identification and remedial actions such as:
    • issuing drivers with hand sanitiser;
    • minimising unnecessary business travel;
    • actioning ‘social distancing’ by conducting meetings and other business group gatherings such as tool box meetings with small numbers and in the manner most likely to reduce the risk of transmission of Coronavirus, such as electronically;
    • ensuring that customers and those in control of sites to which our staff must attend are adhering to appropriate strategies and protocols;
    • preventing non-essential visitor/s from accessing the workplace;
    • keeping up to date with the latest COVID-19 information and advice from the Australian
    • government and state agencies to ensure that any action taken is appropriate;
  • keeping staff and customers informed on the current situation and any changed work arrangements via regular briefings at work and phone and email contacts for further information;
  • permitting administrative staff to work from home where practical as a method of social distancing;
  • providing soap, alcohol-based hand sanitiser, paper tissues, closed bins for hygienic disposal of used products and other products in prominent locations to promote good hygiene; and _
  • providing support to staff who are affected by Coronavirus, such as those who are required to self-isolate for 14 days.

Preventing the spread of Coronavirus within the depot

One2One Removals are responsible for:

  • complying with the Biosecurity Act 2015 (Cth) and all state legislation regulating biosecurity and public health emergencies;
  • practising good hand and sneeze/cough hygiene including:
    • washing hands frequently with soap and water, before and after eating, and after going to the toilet or touching/coming into contact with objects in public places
    • covering coughs/sneezes and safely disposing of tissues; and
    • using alcohol-based hand sanitiser;
  • if unwell, avoiding contact with others and complying with any government direction or direction of a health practitioner to self-isolate;
  • using personal protective equipment provided when applicable;
  • at uplift and delivery, ensuring that social distancing policies are adhered to with respect to persons at the residence;
  • minimising any unnecessary contact with items within the residence.

If symptoms develop

One2One Removals is committed to supporting staff that may come into contact with Corona virus or may show symptoms such as those mentioned above. If you believe you have been exposed to the virus or are presenting symptoms of it:

  • Do not come into the office/depot;
  • Advise your manager immediately;
  • Consult with your medical practitioner; and
  • If directed to do so by a government or a medical practitioner, self-isolate for up to 14-days.

One2One Removals understands that the current pandemic may be of concern for our staff; should you need to discuss your personal situation or if you have any concerns about Coronavirus, we encourage you to consider these further with your manager or supervisor.

Self-Isolation requirements and attendance at work

To help limit the spread of Coronavirus, employees of One2One Removals must contact their relevant manager before coming to work in the following circumstances:

  • If you returned from overseas travel within the last 14 days;
  • If you have been in close contact with a confirmed case of Coronavirus; or
  • If you have flu-like symptoms.

Those staff who are required to isolate need to stay at home and must adhere to the health department’s guidelines. You can find this information on the www.health.gov.au/news/health-alerts site.

Our duty of confidentiality

As far as reasonably practicable, One2One Removals will take steps to ensure information concerning the health and safety of an employee is treated confidentially. While we will comply with this obligation, for your information, we are not prevented from disclosing information if it is:

  • required by law; and/or
  • necessary to protect the life, health or safety of the employee or another person.

Contact with Customers and members of the public

Before undertaking a removal, customers must be given the COVID-19 declaration form (Declaration form). This form must be completed and returned to One2One Removals in order to ensure the safety of all staff that will come into contact with the customer and their goods.

Drivers and offsiders will be required to complete an employee declaration and return the document to the office the day before or day of being required to undertake removal duties.

If a customer has indicated on the Declaration Form that they have recently returned from overseas, have tested positive for COVID-19, are in self-isolation and/or have come into contact with someone who has tested positive to COVID-19, you should refer the matter to One2One Removals Management for instructions on whether to proceed with the removal.

Consequences of breaching this policy

One2One Removals has provided this policy for the well-being of its employees and the public in general and will not tolerate any deliberate breaches of this policy. Fines can be imposed by authorities on individuals as well as One2One Removals and disciplinary action will be taken by One2One Removals for breaches which may include termination of employment.
